Global Fund to End Modern Slavery (GFEMS)

The Global Fund to End Modern Slavery (GFEMS) came to GDI with a mission to end modern slavery by making it economically unprofitable. GFEMS worked to increase resources, engage government and the private sector, fund transformative programs and technologies, and ensure robust assessment of impact across all partners and programs.

GDI’s role

GDI helped GFEMS secure $80M in funding commitments, primarily in program grants from the US, UK, and Norway governments. GDI served as an operational partner to GFEMS for its first three years of ramp-up. GDI directors embedded in the GFEMS team, providing deep support on investment strategy, programmatic priorities, and team structuring and recruiting. GDI’s Brand, Marketing & Communications and Finance & Operations teams provided operational support.
