MRC is a grassroots-led multi-stakeholder collaborative of nonprofit, philanthropic, and private sector actors focused on ensuring safety, security, and mobility for migrant families across India.

Systems change work requires local depth and global reach, and our organizational structure matches that. We are a network of locally-run and independently-managed global partners with a shared vision and mission. The partners work together to build knowledge and capacity in our incubation services, and our team often collaborates across partners in their support of initiatives.
In East Asia, we focus on end-to-end strategic philanthropy: our work spans from strategy and program design, to large scale implementation of initiatives that impact social issues critical to our region. Over the past five years, our team has directly shaped over $700M USD in grant-making and programming across issues such as aging, education, early child development, health, mental health, disability inclusion, and poverty alleviation.
We also led GDI’s strategic partnership with Jan Sahas on the Migrants Resilience Collaborative (MRC) in India. MRC has helped over 2 million migrant families access social security (cash and non-cash benefits), unlocking over $100M USD in government benefits while operating in nearly 100 districts in 13 states. This initiative was recently awarded two philanthropic awards from TED (Audacious) and Co-Impact, to help us scale the impact of MRC from 2023-28.
