Council on Smallholder Agricultural Finance (CSAF)

The Council on Smallholder Agricultural Finance (CSAF) is an alliance of impact investing institutions, also referred to as impact-first agricultural lenders, investing in agricultural businesses that generate positive social and environmental impact in low- and middle-income countries. CSAF members convene on a pre-competitive basis to exchange learning, identify best practices, and develop industry standards across three areas: market growth, responsible lending principles, and building a stronger ecosystem for a more inclusive and sustainable agri-SME finance sector.

GDI’s role

GDI provides ongoing support for CSAF’s communications, finance, and administration. GDI partnered with CSAF to incubate and launch Aceli Africa, a financial incentive facility that seeks to increase lending by both CSAF members and local financial institutions to agricultural SMEs in East Africa.
