Emergent Launches LEAF Coalition to Protect Tropical Forests

Emergent is a non-profit intermediary acting between tropical forest countries and the private sector—creating a new marketplace in large-scale transactions of high-integrity carbon credits at the jurisdictional level. Emergent believes we have a historic opportunity to bend the climate curve if we make forests worth more alive.
On this Earth Day, GDI-incubated Emergent and its partners launched the largest forest-focused public-private coalition in history to guarantee $1 billion in demand for carbon credits to protect the world’s tropical forests. Amazon, Nestlé, Unilever, GlaxoSmithKline and Salesforce are among the companies supporting the new initiative, known as the LEAF Coalition.
