Managing Director – GDI Americas

Hayling Price is a Managing Director at GDI Americas, where he is building a portfolio of initiatives advancing community wealth building and broader approaches to economic and social inclusion in the United States. He brings over fifteen years of experience designing and implementing strategies to expand economic mobility. Prior to joining GDI, Hayling served as Executive Director of the Mobility Alliance Incubation Hub, a $12M initiative seeded by the Gates Foundation to align and scale economic mobility efforts in the US. Housed at the Urban Institute, he oversaw a regranting portfolio and led a cross-organizational team in partnership with Common Future and Dalberg Advisors.

Previously, he was a senior executive at the Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ), where he led a team providing technical assistance to community partners across the country while managing public policy and replication efforts. He also helped plan and implement the organization’s $26M COVID-19 response strategy and co-founded the William Julius Wilson Institute, a national resource for place-based solutions supporting children and families from birth through career. Earlier in his career, Hayling was a consultant at FSG, where he developed the firm’s systems change practice and directed multi-stakeholder engagements with foundations and local coalitions nationwide.

Hayling holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a BA in Urban Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. A keyboardist and music producer who has commercially released several records, he can often be found in his home studio experimenting with new sounds.
