Network for Empowerment & Progressive Initiatives (NEPI)
According to the Institute for Economics & Peace, the global economic impact of violence is ~ $14.4 trillion and according to the WHO, 200,000 homicides occur among youth, ages 10 to 29, each year. The Network for Empowerment & Progressive Initiative (NEPI) aims to combat youth violence to create safer and more inclusive societies by implementing evidence-backed interventions grounded in cognitive-behavioral therapy, which have shown to decrease crime rates in urban areas by 20-50% in Liberia.
GDI’s role
As a strategic partner, GDI is supporting the expansion of NEPI’s cognitive behavioral therapy intervention by managing the pilot development and implementation in Nigeria through partnership development, resource mobilization, and long-term organizational strategy. Simultaneously, the team is supporting the financial management of the existing program in Liberia, while also actively exploring opportunities to enable further expansion of this intervention in Sub-Saharan African countries.
