Justice Rising
128 million school-age children worldwide reside in areas that are affected by conflict and its aftermath. Justice Rising’s mission is to build peace in war-affected communities by providing quality education to children at risk. Working mostly in the DRC, they build schools, train teachers, and develop community programs towards the goal of promoting peace and mitigating future conflict.
GDI’s role
GDI has been working with Justice Rising to develop and share their SMoLL Steps framework that ensures students are Safe, Motivated, and Learning in schools that are Legitimate and Sustainable. This framework is being adopted by other schools experiencing protracted conflict, allowing Justice Rising to have an outsize impact beyond their school network, across both the DRC and abroad.
