ISF Advisors (formerly the Initiative for Smallholder Finance) mobilizes capital in support of a more sustainable, equitable, and productive global food system. Combining decades of research with deep sectoral expertise, ISF Advisors develops practical, profitable, and sustainable financial solutions. Since 2015, ISF Advisors has mobilized billions of dollars in support of sustainable food systems and rural transformation – with many of the financial structures the first of their kind.
GDI’s role
Starting with a state of the sector market sizing report, GDI convened and facilitated a range of partners to design, build, and launch ISF as a research and facilitation platform to close the smallholder farmer finance gap. After two years, GDI helped the platform pivot to become an intermediary and advisory group helping to structure rural finance investments and partnerships. Today, ISF is a subsidiary of GDI and continues to build out its offering.
